REGULATIONS FOR THE CONTROL OF HORSES
|
National Conservation
Commission (NCC) Act. Control of horses on beaches regulations,
1993 S.I. 1993. No. 102
Brownes
beach is not for horse back riding. Section 1 is used only by
horse owners for exercising and bathing their horses.
A
stakeholder (Charles), is making business with horses at the
beach. Any violation should be reported to the
marine police and the NCC. Make a picture to use as evidence and
make a report to the police.
OFFENCES:
Horse
droppings at the beach.
PENALTIES:
Horse droppings is not an arrestable offence, instead has a fine
of BDS$2500.00 or six (6) months in
prison. |

OFFENCES:
Ÿ
The
collection of sea eggs out of season and at the protected area
at any time of the year.
Ÿ
Fishing in
the protected area.
PENALTIES:
The magistrate in court will decide the penalty. Maximum penalty
for collecting sea egg is
BDS$5,000.00 or nine (9) months in prison. |

Marine Protected areas in Barbados are under the Coastal Zone
Management Act, 1998-39 and the Fisheries Act, 1993 and its
regulations 1998.
OFFENCES:
Ÿ
Damage to
the reef by anchor, dynamite, poison, extraction, harvesting or
breaking of coral.
Ÿ
Fishing
and extracting sea egg at any time of the year is illegal at the
protected area.
Sea egg
extraction is also illegal at the protected area. |

Coral reefs are protected in Barbados under the Coastal Zone
Management Act, 1998-39 and the Fisheries Act, 1993 and its
regulations 1998.
OFFENCES:
Damage to
the reef by anchor, dynamite, poison, extraction, harvesting or
breaking of coral.
PENALTIES:
•
A fine of $50,000.00 or 2 years or both for braking off a piece
of coral within or without a protected area.
•
A fine of $300.00 for every square metre of coral reef
physically damaged (anchor, explosives, poison) or 5 years of
prison or both. |

The beach is protected in Barbados under the Coastal Zone
Management Act, 1998-39
OFFENCE:
To remove vegetation, sand, stones, shingle or any other
aggregate from the beach.
PENALTY:
Arrestment and conviction for removing vegetation, sand, stones,
shingle, gravel or any aggregate from the beach or foreshore. |

|

163 Regulations
Ÿ
Jet skies
are allowed to get in the beach through only two channels: one
by the Boat Yard and another one by the Pebbles Beach.
Ÿ
Jet skies
are not allowed to operate within swimming areas.
Ÿ
The
maximum speed of any boat inside the bay is 3 to 5 knots per
hour.
Ÿ
Water
sports activities are allowed from 75 to 200 ms from shore.
PENALTIES:
The magistrate in court will decide the penalty for those
violations. |

|
Sea
turtles are protected under the Fisheries Act, 1993 and its
regulations 1998.
OFFENCES:
-
To
capture and kill a turtle.
-
To
poach and steal sea turtle eggs.
-
Possession of any article made from sea turtle shell, or
possession of a turtle itself.
-
Any
commercial transaction made using sea turtles (the sea
turtle itself, its meat, egg, shell or any article made with
sea turtle shells or bones.
PENALTIES:
BDS$
50,000.00 or two years in prison or both. |
